Xiong’an formas a triangle-shaped imaginary line with Beijing and Tianjin. The location of the new city was chosen for strategic reasons to respond to Beijing’s unstoppable sprawl. Xiong’an wiil be an economic and social engine for the existing cities and a laboratory for a new ideas and innovative solutions that will lay the grounds for a long-term sustainable development, overcoming the contraddictions of the 21st century urbanism. Xiong’an will be a green zero-carbon, smart and efficient city, managed by an integrated control wastes, sewage, water and energy, as well as the protection of native fauna and flora.
